Sui (SUI)

A Layer 1 blockchain developed by Mysten Labs using the Move programming language and an object-centric data model that enables parallel transaction processing, near-instant settlement, and horizontal scaling for Web3 applications.

What is Sui?

A Layer 1 blockchain that organizes data into independent objects rather than a single account ledger, enabling simultaneous parallel transaction execution and near-instant finality at scale.

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency, created in 2009 by an individual or group using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. It operates as a peer-to-peer electronic payment system that enables direct transactions between users without intermediaries such as banks or payment processors.

Bitcoin transactions are secured using the SHA-256 cryptographic algorithm and recorded on a distributed public ledger called a blockchain, maintained across thousands of computers worldwide. New blocks are added approximately every 10 minutes.

Layer 1 Blockchain by Mysten Labs

Sui is a Layer 1 blockchain developed by Mysten Labs, founded by former lead engineers from Meta's blockchain research division. The platform is designed to support global Web3 adoption through secure, high-speed transaction processing.

Move Programming Language

Sui uses the Move programming language for smart contract development. Move was originally developed at Meta for the Diem blockchain and is designed with asset safety and formal verification in mind, reducing common smart contract vulnerabilities.

Object-Centric Data Model

Unlike account-based blockchains, Sui organizes all data into independent objects. This architecture enables parallel transaction processing: transactions that touch different objects can execute simultaneously rather than sequentially, dramatically increasing throughput.

Horizontal Scaling

Sui employs horizontal scaling architecture to maintain low fees and high throughput as network activity increases. The network is designed to add capacity as demand grows without sacrificing performance or requiring protocol-level changes.

zkLogin & Sponsored Transactions

Sui includes zkLogin for simplified account access using existing Web2 credentials, and sponsored transactions that allow users to interact with applications without directly managing wallets or immediate fee payments , lowering barriers to Web3 participation.

SUI Token & Staking

The SUI token is used for transaction fees and DeFi operations. Token holders participate in proof-of-stake consensus by locking tokens to support validators, earning staking rewards. A storage fund collects fees and distributes rewards to validators for data availability.

Ecosystem & Backing

Sui has attracted major venture capital backing and a growing developer ecosystem focused on DeFi, gaming, and applications that require high throughput and near-instant transaction finality.

Venture Capital Backing

The project has received backing from major venture capital firms including Andreessen Horowitz, Coinbase Ventures, Circle Ventures, and YZi Labs , providing significant institutional support for long-term ecosystem development.

Gaming & Digital Assets

Sui's composable object types and parallel execution make it particularly suited for blockchain gaming and digital asset applications, where many users interact with independent in-game objects simultaneously without contention.

Governance Rights

SUI holders maintain governance rights, allowing participation in voting on protocol changes and network upgrades. Fee collection and staking reward distribution mechanisms are designed to create sustainable incentives for long-term network participation.
