Cronos (CRO)

A Layer-1 blockchain built on the Cosmos SDK with EVM compatibility and IBC interoperability, offering up to 60,000 TPS, 500 ms block times, instant finality, and transaction fees below $0.01.

What is Cronos?

A Layer-1 blockchain combining EVM compatibility with Cosmos IBC interoperability, engineered for high throughput and near-zero fees , enabling Ethereum developers to migrate applications while gaining cross-chain access to the Cosmos ecosystem.

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency, created in 2009 by an individual or group using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. It operates as a peer-to-peer electronic payment system that enables direct transactions between users without intermediaries such as banks or payment processors.

Bitcoin transactions are secured using the SHA-256 cryptographic algorithm and recorded on a distributed public ledger called a blockchain, maintained across thousands of computers worldwide. New blocks are added approximately every 10 minutes.

Cosmos SDK + EVM Compatibility

Cronos is built on the Cosmos SDK and designed to be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling developers to deploy Ethereum-based applications on the network without significant code modification.

High Throughput & Fast Block Times

The network is engineered to support up to 60,000 transactions per second with block times of 500 milliseconds, providing the performance characteristics required for applications demanding rapid settlement and high concurrency.

Instant Finality

Transactions on Cronos settle with instant finality, eliminating the probabilistic confirmation model of proof-of-work chains. Applications can treat confirmed transactions as irreversible without waiting for additional block confirmations.

Sub-$0.01 Transaction Fees

Transaction fees are reported to remain below $0.01, making Cronos economically viable for applications where frequent small-value transactions would otherwise be cost-prohibitive on higher-fee networks.

IBC Interoperability

Cronos integrates with the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, allowing communication and asset transfers with other Cosmos-based chains , providing cross-chain interoperability without relying on centralized bridges.

Proof of Authority Consensus

The network uses a Proof of Authority consensus mechanism, in which a defined set of authorized validators produce blocks. This model prioritizes throughput and deterministic finality while maintaining compliance considerations relevant to enterprise and regulated use cases.

Adoption & Use Cases

Cronos is designed to bridge Ethereum developers and Cosmos liquidity, positioning itself as infrastructure for tokenized markets, DeFi applications, and on-chain services requiring high throughput at low cost.

EVM Migration Path

EVM compatibility allows Ethereum developers to deploy existing smart contracts on Cronos with minimal changes, reducing the technical barrier to accessing the network's higher throughput and lower fees.

Tokenized Markets & DeFi

Cronos is positioned to facilitate tokenized markets and on-chain financial applications, with its architecture emphasizing the performance and cost characteristics needed for DeFi protocols, NFT platforms, and asset tokenization services.

Cross-Chain Accessibility via IBC

IBC compatibility connects Cronos to the broader Cosmos ecosystem of chains, enabling users and applications to access liquidity, assets, and services across interconnected networks without depending on centralized cross-chain infrastructure.
